IB to Host Annual International Business Seminar in Toronto

Date: 2017-09-28
Duration: 1 day(s)
Location: Toronto, CanadaRegister now to secure your place at Barbados’ annual International Business Seminar in Toronto on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Toronto Hotel, under the theme, ‘The Preferred International Financial Centre for Canadian Investors’.

This seminar is one in a series of North American promotional events and activities organised by Invest Barbados (IB) to promote Barbados as a jurisdiction of choice for foreign direct investment (FDI). Barbados is currently the third largest destination for Canadian FDI behind the USA and the UK. The two nations have a long history of diplomatic relations dating back to the year of Barbados’ independence in November 1966.  Additionally, the countries also have a Double Taxation Agreement in force, as well as a Bilateral Investment Treaty.

Members of the international investor community, including Canadian attorneys, accountants, tax advisors, entrepreneurs and High Net Worth Individuals, will be attending the seminar.  Similarly, a large delegation of international business and financial service professionals from Barbados will also be in attendance, particularly coming off the heels of the RIMS Canada Conference, which will also be held in Toronto a few days earlier.

The seminar programme, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. will feature a cadre of esteemed speakers including Senator The Honourable Darcy Boyce, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, who will address the topic: ‘Welcoming International Business to Barbados’. Other presenters include Ms. Dominique Pepin, Managing Director, Tailored Ltd; Mr. Ricardo Knight, President & CEO, JLT Barbados; Mr. Cleviston Haynes, Governor (Ag.) Central Bank of Barbados; Ms. Valerie Cusano, Principal, Palm Insurance Canada Inc., who will give a Canadian perspective on doing business in Barbados and Ms. Alison Manzer, Partner, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP.

During the seminar, there will be a question and answer segment where attendees will have the opportunity to find out more about the Barbados value proposition and setting up a business in Barbados, among other investment opportunity queries. Immediately following the seminar, there will be a networking luncheon.

To register for the seminar or for further information, you may contact Mr. Neil Weekes, Senior Business Development Officer at toronto@investbarbados.org.

researchED Toronto
Nov 10 @ 7:00 pm – Nov 11 @ 5:00 pm

researchED is coming to Canada with the first ever researchED conference and it’s in the downtown heart of Toronto, Canada’s largest city.  Working with researchED UK, our Canadian organizing committee has assembled some of the brightest thinkers and teacher-researchers from the UK and right across Canada. Come and learn what the latest research tells us about the best ways to teach, lead schools, and help children learn.  Listen, learn and speak to the researchers, teachers and academics transforming the best research into teaching practice.  Network, get ideas, be challenged and ask questions at one of the most unique, stimulating and engaging events of the year.

We believe that the teaching profession is poised and ripe for change; a change where teachers and schools are guided by the best evidence available, working in tandem with experience, craft and wisdom. Where we no longer work alone, or under ancient misconceptions, but together in an informed community of school practitioners. Come and join us as we bring researchED to a new audience in Canada.

We hope to see you there.
