Gwyndaf Jones, Welsh Tenor ~ A concert in support of Carwyn’s Fund
Feb 3 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

A concert in aid of Carwyn Edwards.

Many years ago, I was contacted by a lovely man named, Carwyn Edwards, to do a concert in Phoenix, Arizona. At the time, I was unable to honour such a proposal, but fortunately that conversation became the beginning of our long distance friendship.

It was very upsetting to hear of Carwyn’s illness. He suffered a bacterial infection in his blood stream. He was put on life support for a long while. When he finally came around, it was only to hear the news that they would have to amputate his legs to save his life. The infection, also destroyed a valve in his heart and his kidneys. He is on constant dialysis.

Luckily, Carwyn’s health has improved since then. But, sadly his health coverage was not enough to cover the costs of his care and left him with a huge debt to the medical system. He still has a long long way to go before paying it off. Thats why, I feel it necessary, as his friend, to assist in any way I can.

So, I reached out to Pam Munjal one day and spoke to her about my idea for a benefit concert. She kindly and enthusiastically said that she would take it to the Toronto Welsh Society board. Fortunately, they agreed to help, along with Dewi Sant Welsh United Church who offered a venue. It is wonderful to know that I can turn to the Welsh community and have them come together to help someone in need.

Carwyn and his family are excited and very touched by the kindness and willingness of the Toronto Welsh to assist.

I am proud and honoured to be performing a fundraising concert for Carwyn at Dewi Sant Welsh United Church on February 3rd, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The concert will consist of professional string musicians, a pianist and guitarist performing along with yours truly. Come prepeared to be serenaded with a lovely mixture of Welsh songs, sacred music, musical theatre, pop songs of yesteryear and much more.
